National Science Day Celebration 2024 at Gopali Indranarayan Memorial High School, Kharagpur
National Science Day was celebrated by jointly by INYAS East Zone and Gopali Indranarayan Memorial High School, Kharagpur with Vivekananda Vigyan Mission (West Bengal Chapter of Vijnana Bharati) on the 29th of February, 2024. The event saw active participation and engagement from students, teachers, and esteemed guests from different schools and institutes around Gopali Indranarayan Memorial High School. Around 250 school kids participated in the event.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by an inaugural song that set the tone for the day’s proceedings. Mrs. Arpita Pariya Das, the Headmistress of the school, commenced the program with opening remarks, setting a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees. Prof. Somnath Ghosal initiated the proceedings with an enlightening address, which was followed by an insightful speech on “Science for Technology” by Prof. Arijit Dey from IIT Kharagpur. Prof. Titas Mondal captivated the audience with a presentation on the remarkable achievements of Indian scientists in utilizing and advancing modern technology in the domain of rural healthcare.
Following a refreshing lunch break, the event resumed with Prof. N.C. Das from IIT Kharagpur delivering an inspiring speech, motivating students to pursue careers in science. Prof. Nishant Chakravorty then took the stage to discuss the power of interdisciplinary learning and the significance of exploring diverse fields. Prof. Budhaditya Mukherjee concluded the series of speeches with an engaging talk on understanding parasitic diseases and their impact on health, leaving the audience with much food for thought.
The event concluded with an interactive session, allowing students to engage with the speakers and delve deeper into the topics discussed. A Vote of Thanks was delivered, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and sponsors for their contributions to the success of the event.
