Welcome Message from the Chair

The Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS), since its inception in 2014 with 20 founding members, has grown into a dynamic group of 119 young scientists from various academic institutions and national laboratories across the country. At the 11th General Body Meeting, 24 exceptional new members were elected through a highly competitive process, with a success rate of ~5% from close to 500 applications testament to the rising prestige and ambition associated with INYAS membership.

The year 2025 has been one of unparalleled activity, with 114 events organized across the country, testifying to our dedication to scientific outreach, capacity building and societal engagement. INYAS remains committed to robust principles of gender equity and geographical distribution, while our members have been honoured with numerous national and international awards for their scientific achievements.

Our flagship programs, PRAYOJAN, WiSDOM and RuSETUP, have enhanced leadership, mentorship, and science-society interface, while knowledge dissemination has been facilitated through special publications and collaborations with prestigious publishers such as Wiley, Springer and PINSA. As the preeminent young academy in India, INYAS also represents the collective voice of early-career scientists, contributing to white papers and policy discussions of national significance.

Looking ahead, we see ourselves enhancing flagship initiatives, building partnerships with other like-minded scientific societies and academies, and preparing influential policy documents. A special focus will continue to be on engaging all members actively, ensuring an inclusive approach as per their expertise and interests.

With the energy and passion of youth, along with the wisdom of senior academies, INYAS continues to be committed to scientific excellence and relevance, contributing significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
